Awards

To celebrate and promote cultural achievements in the field of literature, the Bahrain International Book Fair features three awards that will be announced at the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities’ Pavilion, and they are: The Bahrain Book Award, Mohammed Al-Banki Award for Cultural Person of the Year, and the Bahrain Pearl Award.

    The 2018 Bahrain Book Award

    The Bahrain Book Award is annual award launched in 2011 in commemoration of World Book Day. This year’s award carries the theme “Literature and Shaping the World, focuses on writers and researchers from this year’s Guest of Honor, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

    Mohammed Al-Banki Award for Cultural Person of the Year

    The Mohammed Al-Banki Award for Cultural Person of the Year is an annual award that celebrates an outstanding intellectual, writer, artist, or cultural achiever. It is named after the noted late critic and intellectual Mohammed Ahmed Al-Banki, the former Undersecretary of the then-Ministry of Culture.

    Bahrain Pearl Award

    Named after Shaikha Lulwa bint Mohammed Al Khalifa, the very first Bahrain Pearl Award will be given away this year to a writer and researchers who made outstanding contributions to their society’s development and enlightenment in various cultural and intellectual fields.
